Steps to install the drivers:

1) Plug in the wired network connection before turning on the device (as of the 2017.04.07.0 version, this is a requirement for wired networking)

2) Turn on the computer and immediately press the F12 key multiple times to display the boot device list

3a) Insert the 32bit or 64bit version of the XiniX boot media into the optical drive and select the "CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive" option; press F8 multiple times to display the "XiniX Boot Options" menu
3b) Attach the 32bit or 64bit version of the XiniX boot media into a USB port and select the "USB Storage Device" option; press F8 multiple times to display the "XiniX Boot Options" menu

4) Select "Low Resolution" from the 'XiniX Boot Options" menu

5) In the "Welcome" wizard run through the setup to create a DATA partition and optionally install and desired software

6) When you reach the desktop, a balloon should appear referencing the installation of the more powerful graphical system - click the "Install" button

NOTE: if you miss this step, go into "Access > Local > Software > System" and after it has populated (it will take a minute or two), click the toggle icon and select the "Install" option for the "xorg" entry

7) Go into "Access > Device > Drivers" (using 'now has zen' as password), again waiting a minute or two for population, then the click the toggle icon and select the "Install" option for the "Dell_Optiplex_3040" entry

Steps to install the drivers:

1) Plug in the wired network connection before turning on the device (as of the 2017.04.07.0 version, this is a requirement for wired networking)

2) Turn on the computer and immediately press the ESC key multiple times to display the boot menu list

NOTE: due to a bug or an oversite, booting off of a USB drive was not possible

3) Select the "Computer Setup (F10)" option

4) Go to the "Storage" category and then select the "Storage Options" item to make sure the "Removable Media Boot" value is "Enabled". Afterwards, select the "Boot Order" item and navigate to each of the "ATAPI CD/DVD Drive" or "USB Hard Drive" (depending on your boot media) and hit the F5 key to enable, then F10 to accept.  Now go to "File" and select "Save Changes and Exit".

5a) Insert the 32bit or 64bit version of the XiniX boot media into the optical drive and select the corresponding option prefixed with "CD/DVD:"
5b) Attach the 32bit or 64bit version of the XiniX boot media into a USB port and select the corresponding option prefixed with "USB:"; press F8 multiple times to display the "XiniX Boot Options" menu

6) Select "Low Resolution" from the 'XiniX Boot Options" menu

7) In the "Welcome" wizard run through the setup to create a DATA partition and optionally install and desired software

8) When you reach the desktop, a balloon should appear referencing the installation of the more powerful graphical system - click the "Install" button

NOTE: if you miss this step, go into "Access > Local > Software > System" and after it has populated (it will take a minute or two), click the toggle icon and select the "Install" option for the "xorg" entry

9) Go into "Access > Device > Drivers" (using 'now has zen' as password), again waiting a minute or two for population, then the click the toggle icon and select the "Install" option for the "HP_8200_Elite" entry

10) Now you can optionally perform step 7 again with the "xf86_video_intel" entry or simply reboot the device twice to have the proper video driver installed
